(well this post got no notes, but it sure got some questions, hello! ;D)
[No Outright Spoilers but SPOILERISH Warnings for Flash Pilot, Ahoy!]
How? The short answer: My brother knows a guy who knows a guy.
(Which sounds very ominous when I phrase it like that, but it’s more a “father’s brother’s nephew’s cousin’s former roommate” situation than anything.)
Where? youwillneverknowitwasme : To answer the not-directly-asked-but-I’d-be-thinking-it-in-your-shoes question, the pilot’s not online (and anyone who leaks it will probably find him/herself in the hot seat with Time Warner); I just got to see someone’s official copy.
Who am I? Well I’d hate to say “no one special” or “no one”! …which is… technically true, in the sense that you’re asking (the-how-the-heck-did-you-get-to-see-that sense: luck, not fame and certainly not fortune).
I like to think I am somebody! …just not a “somebody” you’ve heard of. Or…that anyone’s ever heard of unless they know me in Real Life.
I am a writer, though- in the “I have a degree in writing and a story being published in a small magazine and a truly ridiculous amount of fanfiction scattered across the Internet and big big dreams and ambition” sense of being a writer that, you know, applies to at least half of Tumblr.
Allowed?… Is a strong word. And while there is certainly a mysterious behind-the-scenes ‘them’ at work in TV-dom, I have not met ‘them’ and ‘they’ don’t know me… yet (mwahaha.) There’s already reviews and the inklings of reviews online, from “somebodies” who do get access to such things. So while toeing a respectful line… if I was the one who’d written a pilot, I wouldn’t want the best parts of it spoiled before it aired! … I thought I’d toss my two cents into the well of opinions.
…Now, interesting question on Caitlin Snow. (in fact it kind of feels like a hornet’s nest of a question…I sense budding ship wars…)
The Short Answer: No…
Slightly-longer answer: Iris has way more screen time than Caitlin in the pilot. You get a good sense of her personality; with Cailtlin you just get…an understanding of why she acts like she has no personality.
The Long Answer: First off, I like Iris in the comics. I also have liked Danielle Panabaker in other things I’ve seen her in (Sky High!). So I came into the pilot with positive-ish feelings towards both characters, and I left the same way.
They’re almost literal opposites, as Iris is warm, talkative, and open, and Caitlin is… none of those things (but with reason, and that contributes to her being intriguing). We don’t see them interact, but that should definitely be interesting, and I think there’s enough evidence to suggest they respond to crises very differently…
But stronger? Nope. Nah. (And I wouldn’t want it any other way).
